I Love Lima
HOla Soy Elder,
What´s up family! Sounds exciting! So if I have any trouble with my assignments in university I´ll just call you Mama haha! I´ll call you on Sunday in the afternoon, but in advance Happy Mother's Day mama! I love you a lot and we´ll see who´s the better teacher haha. Also Mama I don´t know if I mentioned that there does exist Popeyes in Peru - but I have never tried it yet (unfortunately).
This week has been another full week of work. One thing that is happening in the mission that I did not think would happen is that we are receiving training to receive smartphones in the mission. We have some training videos to see and then in the coming weeks we should be receiving them. We will be using whatsapp to communicate with investigators and other cool stuff.
What we´ve been up to as well this week is working with a dude whose name is Wilber (I think I talked about him). He´s a great dude who has been coming to church for two weeks now. But we are worried because he may start ´´faenas´´ where he lives which is basically when people want basic infrastructure in their hill where they live instead of waiting for the government all the homeowners either pay or do manual labor every Sunday to build these things they need such as stairs, retention walls, etc.
Also this week we got to know and started teaching an investigator named Derly who came to church this Sunday - she is a single mom and her personalilty kind of reminds me of Mom´s personality - which means that she´s awesome obviously. As well we still are teaching Yohan who is struggling a little bit to keep some of his basic commitments now, but he is really sincere and we are going to help him feel the spirit this week. Now that I think about it, my week has kind of been the same as well, but I love it!
This week I also had a chance to reflect on my own missionary service, and President Godfrey reminded us of it. Sometimes we get distracted from the Saviour´s purpose, like Peter who after the Saviour´s Resurrection decided to go fishing. I sometimes feel that I get distracted from the Lord´s purpose. But the Lord asked Peter a question that day that still sounds to this day. ´´Lovest thou me more than these?´´ And he told him to follow him and serve him to the end. A life devoted to service to Jesus Christ is the way to find true happiness. I know that peace does not come from any other source.
