HI Familia!!!
Como estan??? How´s it going? Haha that´s so awesome that you guys ate anticucho, the dishes you ate look pretty much like the stuff I eat! It´s so delicious also tell Grandpa Bill I said happy birthday! To answer your question Mama, I do focus on doing push-ups and sit ups. But sometimes I slack because I know I´m gonna hike up a bnuch of hills. I´ll keep an eye out for two white girls in Peru as well!
Feliz Pascua! Peruvian traditions for Easter are very centred on the death of Jesus. On good friday everyone turns on their TV and watches movies about Moses, Noah and then the passion of Christ comes on at the end of the night. They also eat fish because after Jesus was resurrected he ate fish with his apostles on the shore of the sea of Galilee. There are also holidays on thursday, friday, and saturday for Holy Week or ´´Semana Santa´´ it´s a good time. At times it´s harder to remember the deeper reason why we celebrate easter, which is because Jesus Christ was resurrected. And because of that we will be resurrected as well. Everyone will live again, sometimes it´s hard for people to understand when we teach that for the first time but it´s a knowledge that gives me so much joy that I will be resurrected. And that by obeying Jesus Christ I can also live with my family for all eternity.
This week we found a couple named Jesus and Emelina. Last week my companion contacted Jesus in a division and this week I contacted him again without knowing that my companion had already contacted him. He accepted us in his house where he lives with his wife and four kids. (side note, he lives in a HUGE hill and I am always sweaty and out of breath when we get to his house) he and his wife talked to us about their financial problems that they are having and the fact that they are both suffering from illnesses and honestly were feeling kind of hopeless. We taught them and they had a ton of doctrinal questions and at the end they didn´t seem very commited to come to church. Then when we arrived at church on sunday we were surprised to see them sitting there waiting for us!
As well Carmen, who came to church last sunday, this sunday came back and brought her family! Her younger brother commited to get baptized in May! Carmen is definitely a miracle.
Anyways, a lot of work to do. I love you guys!
