Lima Legend

HOla Familia!!!!

Studying the scriptures throughout my mission has been a sacred experience and I have been able to learn so many things through them.

My companion Elder Espejo is funny - he has a special talent which is that he can sleep anywhere - it has happened a couple times where I have knocked on a door to contact or talk with a member and when I turn around he is sleeping on the concrete stairs. I´ll try to take a photo haha.

This week we have had some good experiences, I got a chance to be with Elder Cánepa from Peru and together we went to teach one of our investigators named Duberly. Duberly is 19 years old and we found him contacting a couple weeks ago. He came four months ago from the jungle of Peru to come and study in Lima. He is such a great guy. We have been teaching him and he accepted everything, including read the Book of Mormon and gained a testimony that it was true. Only that when we invited him to church he said yes and then when Sunday came he disappeared, the second sunday the same thing happened. This week we were thinking about if we were going to keep teaching him because he was not keeping his commitment to come to church. But I made a decision and we decided we were going to do everything possible to help him feel comfortable at church.
With Elder Canepa we went and gave him a tour of the church - we paused a moment to contemplate a painting of the atonement and explained to him that Jesus Christ suffered everything for him. We then invited him to be baptized and he accepted a baptismal date April 6th. We are going to keep working with him.

We also had another cool experience this week, on Saturday it was about 9:30 and we were a little far away from our house so we were thinking about heading back. But we decided to head to one more house - en route to the house an older lady greeted us. She seemed super friendly so I decided to contact her. She told us her story, that she lives alone with her two special needs kids and her son who helps her. She has always believed in God but has felt abandoned at times. My companion bore her his testimony because he also had a special needs brother and we invited her to show her faith and come to church. She accepted but when we came back the next morning with a member who had a car she told us she was busy and wouldn´t be able to come. The member then bore his testimony and told her that we can´t obligate her but it will change her life. We gave her a time to get ready and she came to church with her daughter who has down syndrome.

Love you guys a lot!
