Peru Popcorn

This week has been a week of highs and lows. This week 2 times I went to Famesa, which is about 45 minutes away in bus, to do 2 baptismal interviews. It´s a good time. The investigators they have are both super awesome - they are super ready to be baptized. Then after one of the baptismal interviews I taught an english class there because there was no one else to teach. It´s always fun teaching english but it makes me feel weird because I never speak English.

As well this week we also had a funny experience. So we were finishing the day and we were with a Venezuelan member who had helped us do divisions so I could go to famesa that day. To thank him we bought him a hamburger from the street. As we were there eating hamburgers we started talking about how we had seen a lady with a monkey as a pet that day. So my companion asks me ´´is it legal to have a monkey in Peru?´´ and I didn´t know so we turned to the guy sitting next to us who is super pierced and tatooed and ask him ´´it is legal to keep a monkey as a pet in Peru´´ and he says ´´in Peru I don´t know but it Chile it´s illegal´´. Turns out the guys sitting next to us is from Chile, and not only that - he lives about five minutes away from my companions house haha. We contacted him and he was an athiest. So my companion was left with the first Chilean he sees in 2 months and he´s an athiest. Good times.

This week we also saw blessings, the first was that Gloria and Angelina accepted a baptismal date for this coming saturday. They have had a ton of tough experiences in the past. She was kicked out of her house for believing in God, she was in the streets for a while going from church to church until she found a stable job. Then when she started to listen to the misionaries in December her boss told her that she can´t work there anymore if she keeps listening to the missionaries. So she took a leap of faith and quit her job and was kicked out of her house. She was able to find a new house and a new job and now wants to be baptized. On Sunday her daughter I think told half the ward that her baptism was going to be this saturday at 4:00, super cute.

As well on Sunday we were looking for pick up an investigator who we had invited to come to church, but we went to his house and nothing. SO we said a prayer and asked that we could contact someone who would come to church. We arrived at the chapel and still had had no success. We decided to enter sacrament meeting. After the sacrament I saw that in the back a Venzuelan man entered. After the meeting ended we went to talk to him. It turns out his wife and kids who are still in Venezuela are members, and at the request of his wife he came and looked for the chapel. We are going to keep teaching him this week.

I love you guys a lot! HAve a good week!
