Hola Familia!
How´s it going? I love that photo of Livs, Walker, Quinn and Esther going to the youth dance. That´s so cool! Also crazy that Troy and Will are being ordained deacons! That´s so weird!
This week was a little crazy for me, the changes were super unexpected, so what happened is that our zone got combined with another zone, so I am no longer the zone leader. Now I´ve been called as a district leader and I am training a new companion again! His name is Elder Rodriguez and he is from Santiago, Chile. He´s 19 years old and ready to go. He´s a member all his life. So with him I´ve had companions from almost every country in South America, I only need a Bolivian and a Brazilian.
The crazy part of this week is that the area right next to mine closed, so now I am working in their area as well - that means my area doubles in size and I have two wards! So that´s been fun as well, we´ve pretty much been working in the new area the whole week to get to know the investigators they left behind. It´s been a whole ton of work but super rewarding. On Sunday we had two really good lessons with an investigator named Gloria and the family of Aracely. Gloria has just moved back to the ward but she is awesome. She lost her job because she was coming to church and kept going and is reading the Book of Mormon. Aracely wants to get married and we are going to help her get started this week.
So that´s been my week - a quick side note - there´s a new mission opening in Lima in July! So that will be exciting. But anyways, this week has been awesome. If there´s anything I´ve learned this week it´s that if I just do the small and simple things and work as hard as I can, the Lord will do the hard things. Miracles in missionary work come as I learn to work in such a way that I put my trust in him. It´s the same in life. When you work and trust in the Lord he will do the hard things. Gloria is a good example of that, also my parents. You guys have always worked hard and I never remember you guys having a doubt of turning away from the Lord or the church because of that. I´m really grateful for your example.
Love you guys a lot,
Elder Thompson
