What´s up? I got your package! Thanks Mama! I had a thought actually about ministering sisters when you mentioned it. On Sunday we heard a talk from the relief society president in sacrament meeting and she talked about John 21 where Jesus appears to his disciples and invites them to ´´feed my sheep´´ and the phrase she shared that was really powerful was ´´when the Lord called you to be a missionary, it was for forever, when the Lord called you to be a ministering brother or sister, it was for forever´´ It´s a part of our eternal progression ministering to others. I´m trying to learn a lot more about what it means here in Peru.
This week we actually didn´t have sacrament meeting inside, because our chapel is being renovated we had it outside in the soccer court - the church had built an improvised sacrament meeting room that basically is metal walls with a tarp roof - but it looks nice. The only catch is that it is super hot and the best part is that on Sunday we had investigators that came to the other ward at 10:30 and so we stayed with them. So I got to enjoy a nice 5 hours there in the makeshift furnace but I actually really loved it because we were with investigators. Also that´s exciting for the changes in age progression! That means Willy will be passing the sacrament right away! That´s awesome!
Also this week we had a ´´gira misional´´ with Elder Montaya of the seventy! It started on wednesday with mission council and then on thursday we had a special conference with him. It was a great time he talked a bnuch about his mission including his way of contacting which included doing push-ups as they knocked doors and then they would teach people about the word of wisdom. He talked also about how to use more effectively the Book of Mormon to answer questions of the soul including to Venezuelan refugees in Peru. There definitely was a lot to apply.
Also I don´t know if i´ve mentioned Venezuelans but there are a ton here - one of the common ways we find people to teach is by asking the members where the Venezuelans live and it works! We´ve found a single Venezuelan mom by doing that this week. As well it´s interesting to get to know the people from Venezuela because you getto know a whole diffrenet culture but never actaully leaving the country.
The area is coming along, we are working with a few people including a guy we contacted this week whose name is Jesus - he is an orphan who recently got seperated from his partner. He came to church on Sunday! But anyways, I´m a little short on time but looking forward to Christmas! Lots of work to do this week!
