Lima Leaf
Sorry a little bit of a short letter last week, I was a little short on time after doing a few reports. I love looking at the photos of those kittens in comparison with Lola - she look so fat. That´s awesome about the read-a-thon as well. Here President Godfrey gave us the challenge to read Preach my Gospel, The missionary manual and the Book of Mormon together as a mission. We recently just did the exercise that President Nelson recommended where we read the Book of Mormon highlighting all the references to God the Father in blue and Jesus Christ in red, also writing all the different names of Jesus Christ that we found in the back of the book. I found out that I did not go almost a single page without highlighting something in red. The Book of Mormon really does live up to it´s title ´´Another Testament of Jesus Christ´´. That was a rich experience and I would recommend it for everyone.
This week was another full one - President Godfrey gave us a surprise call on monday night to tell us that he would like to invite our zone to another zone´s conference. So Tuesday we got up nice and early to learn from President Godfrey. A really good experience, he shared some standards for the mission which are going to help us change our mindset, which include that we should never arrive alone to church or a family home evening, we always contact families, when we arrive to a lunch appointment if lunch isn´t ready yet we should head outside and contact while we wait. They are small things that can give us the extra bit of dilligence we need to reach our goals.
Of course we then got the chance to apply these things in our own area and with others. I went to Elder Koontz area on Thursday then was with Elder Anhder again on friday. They are good missionaries - it´s always nice to be with them.
Anyways. on sunday we had the opportunity to meet with Cristofer - he is from Venezuela and such a humble dude. We originally met him two months ago when he was in a member´s house. Basically the stake young women´s president who is from our ward was printing out a bunch of stuff for an activity and Cristofer was helping her out and he started to ask her ´´what´s this´´ about the temple and the young women´s theme. She explained it to him and then said that she has two friends who can explain more about it. She then presented us to Cristofer but as he lives in another district of Lima we couldn´t teach him so we passed the reference. I forgot about Cristofer until about three weeks ago when he showed up on Sunday and asked us to teach him more about the church. We talked with President Godfrey and he gave us permission to teach him. He is very humble and sincerely wants to come closer to God and improve his relationship with Jesus Christ. He accepted to be baptized on December 1st and has been reading the Book of Mormon during the week finding times between his work schedule (he works from 7am - 10pm)
Also a small miracle this week - we were doing a ´´blitz´´ for the sisters in our zone basically contacting people in their area to find new investigators. While we were contacting a woman came up to me and asked me what church I´m from. She explained that she had gotten married in Febuary of this year and wanted to get married religiously. She said she would like to be baptized in a church so that she and her husband can be married. I stood there awestruck for a moment and then happily took her information and got a time so that the sister missionaries can visit her. That was something you don´t see everyday.
Anyways, I love you guys! Tomorrow are transfers so we´ll see what´s up
We went to the temple last week too! And some photos of a cool sunset and meetings with the zone
Also some organic snack a family we contacted gave us - just pure cocoa. Also a photo of my life training the zone
