Lima Logs
This week has been a good one! Definitely still learning a lot! This last monday we had a chance to visit the centre of Lima! That was a blast we took the Elders from our zone there and got a chance to look all around the ´´plaza de armas´´ including while we were there they did a changing of the guard and we saw the President of Peru. We also did some tourist shopping in the markets around there and finished with a tour of the catacombs that are below the cathedral of Lima! I sent of few photos but we couldn´t take photos in the catacombs but they were pretty cool too.
On Tuesday we had zone conference - which answering your question mama was the first time I had to train other missionaries - we only had a fifteen minute space to fill so we didn´t really have to talk that much. The conference was all about how we can help our investigators gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon - including President Godfrey who presented various historical evidences that are all pointing that the Book of Mormon is true. But obviously more than all the physical evidences that exist the most important thing someone who is investigating the church can ever do is pray about the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It´s because I prayed about it and asked God with a sincere desire to know the truthfulness. God gave me an answer - he sent me feelings of peace through the Holy Ghost. I am here because of that, because I know that this is unequivocally the true church.
Things are trucking along with Elder Pallmay, he has been here in the area for four months already and so at times it´s a little harder for him to get motivated and so I have to put off my natural passiveness and work and come up with ideas and have confidence in what we need to do. I find if I do things like plan for our day, talk to people in the streets, train and call to follow up with other missionaries and teach investigators with real intent and with the sincere desire to help these people with the confidence that if I do it, God with show his power and do the part I cannot, which is help people gain a testimony. When we both work hard with that desire, the success starts to come.
We did have a funny story this week, yesterday I called a reference the sister missionaries gave us - she answered the phone and said ´´joven, are you coming to my house?´´ and I was so surprised that I said yes where do you live? Excited we hurried over to her address and after waiting for a minute the woman arrives to tell us ´´oh, I thought you were the carpenters coming to fix my table´´ we had a good laugh and told her it´s not a coincidence and ended up talking a little bit and taking out an appointment for this week.
We also are working with a young man named Max who lives right in front of the chapel, that was super convenient because we knock on his door at 7:55 to go to sacrament meeting at 8:00 with him. Did I mention that church starts at 8:00 here? It makes me miss 9:00 back at home.
Anyways, I love you guys!
