Lima Love

Hola Familia!

I love hearing about your weeks! That cracks me up with the mouse Mama (I found one in our garage).  I don´t think I told the story but in my other area we were in the ward mission leader´s house and he came out with gloves and told us that his washing machine had broken. We offered to help and I soon regretted it because his washing machine broke because mice were eating the wires and there was a mouse stuck in his washing machine. He killed the mouse and I had to take it out, it was so gross so I was like never again.

Apart from that I have seen rats, cockroaches, mice, dogs, cats, pidgeons, guinea pigs, rabbits, sheep, roosters, chickens and ducks. The last six in that list are things you can commonly find on your plate. Here there are a ton of animals in the streets. pics included of a dog that always follows us - he loves the missionaries.

Tihs week we had a chance to go to the temple with a bunch of recent converts! The young women in the ward brought a bunch of the young women that have recently been baptized and they were all able to do temple work for the first time. That was awesome to see.

Also this week we have been looking a lot and contacting people in the streets. Lately President Godfrey has been putting a lot of emphasis in ´´buscando los escogidos´´ or finding the chosen people. That is to say the people who are ready and willing to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ in their life. But to do that involves a lot of looking so we have upped our contacting level - we are putting in the effort to talk to everyone. Thanks to that effort we have found a few people this week, one of them who is really awesome. Her name is Josselyn - Elder Chuqui contacted her with her neighbours on a bench. She is 19 years old and living with her 16 year sister here in Lima. She is studying civil engineering here in Lima. We taught her on Saturday and on sunday she came to church. We are going to be working with her this week.

As well on Sunday we had an area seventy that visited our ward. It was fast and testimony meeting and so he shared his testimony but later after the three hour block there was a special class of sorts with him. He tought about traditions that sometimes we have as members of the church that we need to change. For example that the Bishops primary responsability is with the youth whereas the Elder´s Quorum President is charged with caring for and ministering to the families in the ward. Really interesting, I learned quite a lot.

Anyways, we are working hard everyday to keep changing things and improving! I have definitely found what you said Dad to be true. There are times when I can let my circumstances define me and complain about the things that happen like Laman and Lemuel. But often times if I fall in that trap I do feel that the Lord is always there to remind me that it is not my circumstances, but my attitude that I need to change.

I Love you guys!
