Lima Love
Hola hola!!!
Hi I hope your week was good! Funny thing that happened this week - we were doing a companion exchange this week and I was with Elder Borst (who is from my CCM district) and we were visiting a less active family whose daughter is going to be baptized - they have this huge dog named Rocky. Anyways as we visited with this family Rocky was there super chill. Later that week we were in sacrament meeting singing a hymn - I´m sitting on one row and on the next row is Elder Borst with some investigators (we attend the same ward). And in walks Rocky right in the middle of sacrament meeting. I was like hey I know that dog. It was super funny we joked that Elder Borst had an extra investigator at church.
Also mama our ward is Torreblanca, we go to church in a ´´casa capilla´´ which is a chapel but in a three story building it´s really cool. The entire first floor is the chapel and the second and third floor are stuff like the Bishops office, a kitchen and a bunch of classrooms, I´ll take some photos this week it´s awesome. The ward is really good they all seem really excited to work with the missionaries - right now we are living in the second story of a house - the owners aren´t members but missionaries have been teaching them on and off as they haven´t committed to come to church. But I love this area - it´s the biggest one I´ve been in so far. Here a lot of houses are new so they are made out of wood or have brick walls but a tin roof. As well the majority of roads here are dirt - as a result my shoes are super dusty everyday. There are also these little man-made streams flowing everywhere that are for irrigation I think of the farms that are always around here. It´s really cool but the best part are the people, the ward, investigators and evevryone.
Elder Caicedo is doing super well, he has lots of crazy experiences from his time in the mission as well as his time in the Columbian military. He is finishing his mission and a tendency a lot of missionaries have at that time is to slow down and stop working. I am going to help him defy that pattern. Thus we are working with a few part member families right now whose children have not been baptized. First we have Scarleth and Josselyn, they are identical twins whose Mom is a super-inactive member. Their mom wants them to go to church but they normally go with their grandma who is an active member - but unfortunately their grandma has been in the jungle for about 3 months and doesn´t stay in Lima for long periods of time. They are going to be baptized this saturday! We´re super excited for them. As well we are working with Ariana, whose family is less-active but her Mom is coming back to church and Daniella. Daniella´s Mom is an active member and we have been teaching her, her younger brother and her Dad - she is 13 years old. We recently invited the 3 of them to be baptized, Daniella was the only one who accepted and we are planning her baptism for the 26th.
I love the people here, there are so many things to learn and so many people to help. I know that this church is the true church - the church of Jesus Christ.
I love you guys, I´m looking forward to talking to you next week.
