Lima Lettuce
Hola Familia!
Man that was awesome to talk to you guys last week, I had a lot of fun. Man just reading the email about eating at tres carnales and meat is making me hungry, luckily we are eating at a members house sounds like an awesome time in Edmonton. Also for Livs - did Alex and Kelsey really name their cat Adrien? if so they are cat parents of the year.
Down here stuff has been going on! I have a lot of photos because two p-days ago I left my camera in the internet cafe. I was quite sad until I received a call from a missionary in our zone who told me he had my camera - last p-day I recovered it and this week we took advntage and took a lot of photos.
This week we had a giant activity that our whole zone participated in - it was a talent show. We have been practicing after district meeting for a couple weeks a couple songs that we performed. It was not as big as we expected but it was a lot of fun. We sang ´´Called to Serve´´ in english and in Spanish (in Spanish there are 4 verses) and we also sang ´´Nearer my God to Thee´´ in Spanish but the super cool BYU vocal point version- it was a little rocky but super cool. We also acted out the Restoration of the Gospel. It was a good time, and there were a few references that came out of it.
We also had Ariana´s baptism this week. She is super sweet and her baptism seemed like a good experience for her. Her family is all less-active or inactive members, especially her dad. But they all came to support her in her baptism and then her dad who I don´t think has been to church in a few years came to sacrament meeting on Sunday to see her confirmation. It was a tender moment to see her with her family after her baptism and at church on Sunday. She is definitely an influence for good in her family.
A member introduced us to a young mother who she has been talking to about the church this week. Her name is Isabel. She lives basically on her own with her two little kids as her husband (they are married!!!) works outside of Lima. We taught her about the restoration of gave her a Book of Mormon and invited her to read it. As we did that she started to cry and told us that she had been praying that someone would give her a Bible because she doesn´t have one in her house. Although we didn´t give her the Bible we were able to be an answer to her prayer. That was a super humbling experience for me and something I won´t forget easily. Sincere prayer is something that is so important in our day to day lives. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to communicate with my Heavenly Father on a daily basis. Especially here in the mission when I need to trust and rely on him more than ever. I know that God loves his children.
