Lima Learning
What up? This week was transfers! You are super right Mama I got transferred out of my area and am in a new ward - it´s a little crazy because this ward is the second biggest in the mission so I´m like right at the edge of Lima city limits it´s awesome. My new companion is Elder Caicedo from Cali, Columbia who is finishing his mission this transfer - so I am his last companion. Elder Caicedo is cool, he is 22 years old and spent a year and a half in the Columbian military before coming on his mission, but he is a super happy guy always smiling.
Some stuff that happened this week is that last p-day before transfers we went to Mcdonalds for lunch and then went to a park and rode bikes for 45 minutes - it was pretty awesome I forgot what it was like ot ride a bike for a bit. Also it turns out that Elder Baldovino´s new companion is going to be Elder Calhoon who was my companion from the CCM. That´s a little crazy - but he sent me a message this week to let me know that both Patrick and Analith were baptized this Saturday so I´m super happy about that.
Also on Tuesday were transfers - when someone gets transferred here basically the mission sends a giant bus that goes from one end of the mission to the other (the mission is a giant U) and you hop on and get off at your stop. I went to the other side of the mission so I was on the bus for like 2 hours but we stopped in every zone so I got a chance to see a ton of missionaries who were with me in the CCM and also my old companions Elder Cosentino and Elder Mendoza. That was before arriving at my new area which is called Torreblanca. My new area is huge it´s super cool, and also green which is uncommon here - I was super surprised when my first day we went to an appointment which is in an area which is still being built up which means there are still a few chakras which are little farms. I took a photo which I´ll attach.
I got a chance to meet a few new investigators including a pair of identical twins who have a baptismal date for the 12th of May - they are Scarleth and Joselyn. They are super cool, they´ve been reading the Book of Mormon a ton with my companion and his old companion and one pair of the senior missionaries here have also been visiting them. Their Mom is a member but super inactive so they go to church with their Grandma. I´ll try to take a photo with them this week to attach.
This week we also got a message from a Sister missionary in the mission who used to be in our area about one of her old investigators who came to church a few times - who lives across the street from us. We went to contact him and made an appointment - when we showed up to the appointment the investigator (his name is Simon) wasn´t there but his Mom was. Her name is Felicita and we were able to teach her about the restoration and invite her to church. She came which was super awesome. I know the Lord is always looking out for us, we just need to turn to him in ferverent prayer. I know that there is nothing better than sincere prayer and dilligent scripture study for a person who is looking to be closer to their Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve. Yo amo a la gente de Lima Peru.
Love you guys,
Elder Thompson
Here´s some photos - one of my area, one of us last p-day in the train station, one of mcdonalds, one of Patrick, one of us on bikes and one of Elder Caicedo
