Lima Leap

Hola Familia!

How`s it going? I loved all the photos you sent, especially Willy he cracks me up with his faces. All the places you guys were visiting in Seattle reminds me of when I went there for my band trip in grade 10 - looks like it was super fun. Fun fact Mama, this week I learned that my companion used to play the drums, but that sounds like a blast I remember the pop culture museum being a lot of fun.

Down here I`ve been sweating - the days are still getting up to about 30 degrees, although we are starting to get some colder days especially in the evenings. Luckily we have been able to coordinate our appointments so we don`t go up a hill until the evening when it`s cooler. It was super funny because after the Sunday afternoon session of conference, we were in divisions to cover more ground and I went with a Priest from the Bayovar ward (right next to our ward) he had his sweater and everything in his hand - and then I brought him up a cerro and he was like ``I guess I didn`t really need this, the hill already warmed me up``. But he is super cool, his name is Adrian and he`s 17 - he is right now teaching seminary, attending institute and mission prep, and working on top of that. Crazy life man, but he will be a great missionary he already knows how to teach lessons.

This week we have been working with a young man who`s name is Patrick. We contacted him and his Mom a couple weeks ago when we were stopping by a member`s house. His Mom is not very interested but she is on board that her son can go to church and be baptized if he so feels. So we have been inviting Patrick to get to know the young men in the ward and come to activities. This week he came with us to play soccer on monday and then came to two sessions of conference! He`s learning a lot and I`m excited to work with him. Also whenever we go to knock on his door he always comes out, looks me right in the eye and says ``THOMPson`` it`s a little weird but also pretty funny.

Also we have a new ward mission leader who is an returned missionary that served in Brazil - and thus knows fluent Portuguese - I`ve been learning a few phrases from his this week my plan is to come back from my mission knowing 4 languages.

This week we are also working to find new people to teach - and the Lord definitely does provide. As I contact people and we work in our area, the Lord definitely puts people in our path who are ready to listen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ - we had somebody come to church for the first time this Sunday - the sister of a less-active member. I know the Lord is ready to help us as we do our part.

The best part of this week was definitely general conference. To be able to listen to living prophets and apostles is so uplifting. I felt the spirit in their messages and I hope our investigators did as well. I felt a confirmation that President Nelson really is a prophet of God - as he talked about receiving revelation and especially in Priesthood session when he invited all to stand up and sing ``rise up o men of God``. I know that I have many imperfections but I know that through the Lord`s help I can continually do better. I love the people here in Peru, I`m so glad to have the opportunity to serve them. Please take the time to watch general conference if you haven`t already - I promise you will feel uplifted.

I love you guys a lot!

Sorry the pics are a little random - just some stuff on the way to and in a lunch appointment, and a dog leaning out the window like a person
