Peru Perogative
First things first I am staying in my area with Elder Baldovino! There`s definitely some good work we can do together this transfer as we work hard together. One thing that did happen this transfer is that in our ward (Magnolias) there are 3 sets of missionaries, but this transfer they replaced the third set of missionaries with sisters! We now have Hermana Mesa and Hermana Chavez as the new sister missionaries in our ward. Funny thing is that Hermana Mesa was Meghan`s companion so she has a bunch of Canada gear - it`s pretty sweet.
Also that reminds me of a weird thing that happened this week. We had Larry`s baptism this week which I`ll talk about in a sec, but what we did is I went with a member to go pick up an investigator family and bring them to the chapel for the baptism. This member is our old ward mission leader so I know him pretty well. And while we`re walking he pulls 15 Canadian dollars out of his pocket and asks he if it`s real. I was so surprised but what he told is that his buddy at work found 15 Canadian dollars in the trash so he picked it up and decided to ask me as the only Canadian for miles around if they were real. It was super cool - I am now in possesion of 5 Canadian dollars.
It`s crazy that theres so much snow at home - it`s still like 30 degrees almost everyday here - although it`s starting to cool down a little bit in the evenings so that`s nice. That`s awesome that Meghan is doing well - she is so right about the stairs, I have not counted stairs we walk up, it would be like trying to count the number of dogs we see everyday - there are too many to count.
But anyway Larry got baptized this Saturday! He`s been coming to church steadily for the past month and a half and has read all of 1st and 2nd Nephi on his own initiative. It was a really edifying experience because Larry`s dad (who`s name is also Larry) came to his baptism. Larry`s dad we found out on the night of his baptism, had no clue that his son was going to be baptised. It truely is a miracle from the Lord that Larry showed his faith and told his Dad, with towel in hand, that he was going to be baptized. Larry`s dad came and supported his son throughout the whole service. I felt the Spirit really strongly. Larry was confirmed on Sunday a member of the church.
Unfortunately Daniel`s baptism fell through this week for a couple reasons. He`s a really good guy so we`ll keep meeting with him to help him resolve any possible doubts he has.
I always go back to what I do know, and what I teach people about prophets in our lesson. That God speaks through prophets, he did it in the past and he does not change. In the restored church of Jesus Christ revelation is still active and God will communicate with us through prophets, they are not infallible, no prophet has been perfect except for Jesus Christ himself. Dad sent me a scripture - Mormon 9:31 - where Moroni talks about and humbly admits his faults. I know my Heavenly Father is perfect and that as we see our faults we are able to continually improve, and though the grace and mercy that Jesus Christ has provided for us through his atonement, we can return and live with our Heavenly Father. I have a lot of faults that I need to work on, but I know that I am not alone. I love the scripture from 2nd Nephi 4 that says:
19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted.
20 My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.
21 He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh.
I know that God loves us with an infinite love and that he will always support us if we do the necessary things to come to him.
I love you guys!
