Lima Living
Hola familia!!!
Que tal? Things are crazy here in Peru, mostly because this week was changes and I have a new companion! His name is Elder Baldovino and he is from Cartagena Columbia! He is 21 years old and was baptized only a few years ago. He likes to paint too which is pretty cool. We´ve been doing work this week.
This week we have been meeting with Melissa, she is 17 and is living with her Aunt´s family who are all members. She moved here about two weeks ago and started going to church with her aunt and her cousins. She is involved in the young women´s program in the ward too. This week we met with her and invited her to be baptized. She said yes! She is going to be baptized the 10th of February! It´s kind of funny because she is always hanging out with her 14 year old cousin. And the two of them kind of remind me of Olivia and Emily when they are together except it´s all in Spanish. But I´m super excited for that!
Man the ward here is Magnolias is huge, usually in sacrament meeting there are like 230-260 people. The funny part is that church is at 8:00 in the morning and when we arrive for church there are like 30 people there including the bishopric. Then people slowly file in and after the sacrament it is almost impossible to find a seat. I am still learning ward members names because there are so many man.
I love the quote you shared Mama ("That Day of Judgment will be a day of mercy and love—a day when broken hearts are healed, when tears of grief are replaced with tears of gratitude, when all will be made right" - Elder Uchtdorf), for me right now I have the opportunity to tell a lot of people that God is their Heavenly Father and that he loves them. The thing that really surprises me sometimes is that when we talk about that a lot of people don´t blink an eye. They are just like yeah of course. I definitely know that all people have the light of Christ. I am so humbled to be a representative of Jesus Christ and share the message of his Gospel. Yo amo los personas aqui en Peru, son muy buenos.
Love you guys,
Elder Thompson
