Limon Life
Hola familia!
Wow this week has been a little crazy, my companion has been to the hospital almost every day this week. He has these little cysts on his eyelids that came out because of all the dust in Lima and this week we were in the hospital a lot because we had to arrange all the paperwork so they could do a microsurgery on his eyes on Friday. He`s now back in action and fully recovered but that made this week a little unusual.
This week we`ve been working hard to find new people and help them come to church. We went to a building one day to look for a family that we had talked to the day before. And it just so happened that the door was open - this building is like three stories and has two-three apartments on each floor, so we started knocking on doors to find this family and it just so happened that we left a restoration pamplet with a guy on his doorstep and set a return apoointment. As he was about to close the door his wife passed by and saw us and said ``Why didn`t you invite them in?`` and invited us into the house. It turns out that she has seen us walking around the area and is interested in learning more about the church, she told us that she was planning to invite us to her house to share a message with her family. It really blew my mind and confirmed my testimony that the Lord is preparing people to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The field is white already to harvest.
This week we`ve also been meeting with Jose and Gema our investigators who are going to be baptized. They live right on the top of one of the hills in our area and we always find them in the middle of a group of neighbourhood friends. And because we are teaching Jose and Gema a lot of these friends have expressed a desire to go to church with them! It`s really cool to see.
Yeah mama, Peru is way different, a lot of people here operate buisnesses out of their own houses. I don`t quite know what the laws are here but for example I can walk down the street we live on and there is a little shop that sells drinks, bread and candy and chips. Then below our house there is a daycare that a member family runs. On the corner there is an internet cafe where you can pay to access the internet which is also run by members. Then on the other corner there is an event planning shop that can throw a party for you. And this is all on our little street, it is pretty convenient though, because if we ever are hungry or need to buy water or something. There is always a store nearby.
I know that this gospel is true. I have a testimony of the gift of Tongues, it is such an essential part of my mission here in Peru. I love the people here, even the people who think that Canada is part of the US. I hope that we can always follow our Saviour commandment to love one another. I know that as you do you will experience joy in your life.
Les amo!
