Lima Legacy

Hola familia!

What´s up? This week was pretty good! We had the chance on Tuesday to go to the temple with one of the recent converts in our ward whose name is Jherzon. He is 17 years old and has full sleeve tatoos. He was baptized back in November. I don´t know a lot of his story but he lives on his own and had to change a lot to join the church. We went to the temple with him to show him what it was like and I think he really enjoyed it.

A quick side note about the dinners Mama, the big meal of the day is always lunch, and we always have lunch with the members except for Monday. For dinner depending on the day we might grab something from a street vendor, for example their is a less-active member that owns a shop and gives us free fried chicken with french fries. Or occasionally we will be in an appointment with a member or a investigator in the evening and they will invite us to eat ´´lunch´´ which is basically an evening snack or a small meal. Usually it´s a herbal tea and a sandwich with chicken or with cheese or with ham. The members are all super nice and a lot of them give us food, sometimes we are talking and about to share a message and one of them will come in and pour us a glass of Inca Cola (tastes kind of like cream soda, but hey only sell it in Peru) and we will keep talking and then share a message.

We also this week have been working with a family that is a referral from a member. This member lives right at the top of one of the hills in our area but she is super nice and social and always gives us herbal tea or this odd natural coffee that all the members drink called Ecco. Her name is Hermana Lucila. She called us last week to tell us that she has been talking with one of her nieghbours and they started talking about the church and she invited them to come and they came! The family is the wife Analith, the husband Anibal and their 16 year olkd daughter Jimena. We got a chance to meet with them the same day and Analith told us about her background, she is super religious and had been faithfully attending an evangelical church for about a year until because of her work she couldn´t go. So when her nieghbour talked to her about her church she was really open and willing to listen. Her husband Anibal is a taxi driver and plays Saxaphone in a band on the weekends, he has had a lot of questions about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. We were able to answer a lot of his questions and the one´s we weren´t able to answer we asked him to ask of God. I am super excited to keep working with them this next week.

Sunday at church was excellent. I really love the Gospel essentials class, in this ward it is huge. So far in my 4 months in Peru I´ve taught Gospel essentials once on my own and twice with my companion and I´ve given two talks in church. Thankfully none of the talks have been on the spot yet, but I´m sure the day will come.

I´m so grateful to be here in Peru, I know that we preach a gospel of repentance. Yo se que solo mediante Jesucristo podemos ser redimidos y regresar a vivir con nuestro Padre Celestial.

Love you guys!

A busy road we cross a lot
