First December Email
Hola Familia!
Hey it´s Alex´s birthday today!
I love all the preparations for Christmas! How is it going with just the two littles at home? Here people are getting ready for Christmas too, although it doesn´t feel like it because it is super hot here, seriously I feel like I have to change shirts halfway through the day. What I learned this week is that in Peru the Christmas tradition is to have a big Christmas dinner, but at midnight on the 24th. At midnight they eat turkey (pavo) and pig (chancho). I´m personally excited for Christmas.
This week we also saw some amazing things. One of our investigators this week passed his baptismal interview - Anthony. He is awesome, he has a strong desire to learn the Gospel and already knows a lot of the doctrine of the church. He is going to be baptized this week on Saturday and I am super excited for him.
We also went to the temple this week (and went to subway for lunch!) to go through a session. The temple is literally the closest we can be to God here on the earth. It is his house and the ordinances and covenants we receive are essential to enter the kingdom of heaven. Also well we were there we met this lady who only spoke english and is 100 years old!! When we went to shake her hand she kissed Elder Palomino´s hand! It was a unique experience definitely.
Anyways I hope you guys have a good week! Y no olivida a #IlluminaElMundo!
I love you guys,
Elder Thompson
We had a service project this week and someone took a sneaky photo
